Imagination
“If you fall in love with the imagination, you understand that it is a free spirit.” — Alice Walker
Spirit Fragrances was born from imagining comfort and peace in the middle of unbelievable scenes witnessed while working as a hospital chaplain during the height of Covid.
That same imagination is still needed now.
All around us, people are carrying war and displacement, immigration fears and border walls, poverty and job loss, burnout and fragile mental health.
The details are different, but the weight is real.
Imagination is often treated as escape, but sometimes it is survival.
Sometimes it is the very thing that allows us to remain connected to ourselves while living through difficult realities.
The imagination that built Spirit Fragrances is still accessible to you.
It is the part of you that can envision a field of lavender when anxiety begins to rise, letting soft purple rows and herbal air settle the nervous system.
It is patchouli pulling you back toward the earth, reminding you that the outdoors, the dirt, and the trees still belong to you when depression wants you to forget.
It is frankincense wrapping around you like a cloak, inviting in reverence, steadiness, and calm when stress feels like it is swallowing everything whole.
Fragrance creates space for the mind and body to travel somewhere softer, somewhere grounded, somewhere possible.
Imagination does not erase what is hard.
It gives us somewhere to stand inside it.
Later this week, there will be a guided meditation exploring lavender, patchouli, and frankincense as companions to imagination, grounding, and return.
Divine Scents. Inhale the Spirit.
